South Africa 26.09.17-10.03Cape Town
Our days in Cape Town began at Derwent House, a charming boutique stay with homemade breakfasts every morning. D checked out the Zeitz MOCAA while Emily went shark cage diving (since he refused). One evening, we went to watch the sunset looking out toward Lion's Head, which we later summited.
Cape of Good Hope
Visiting the Cape of Good Hope was a standout highlight of the trip. This included a coastal hike, where we learned South African’s consistently undersell the difficulty of their hikes, with deep dives into South African history and culture alongside our guide, Buja.
The Panorama Route
After arriving in Graskop and picking up a rental car, we were lucky to be able to deal with a flat tire at the local shop in town (the guys with the tires in front of their building). With the logistics sorted, we spent the following days exploring the area's canyons, hiking trails, and waterfalls.
Sabi Sands Game Resort
Sabi Sands delivered exceptional wildlife viewing across the reserve. Between game drives, we spent evenings sharing dinners and spirited debates on tipping culture with other travelers.
